Paris 2024 Olympic Games, day 1 live: After a glittering evening on the Seine, the Paris Games will kick off with sporting action on Saturday with a host of international and Indian athletes kicking off their campaigns.

The opening day of the tournament will see some of the biggest names in action, with Ariarne Titmus, Katie Ledecky and Summer McIntosh battling it out in the pool during the women’s 400m freestyle. 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic will begin his bid for his first Olympic gold on Roland Garros’ iconic Court Philippe-Chatrier. Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek will also be in action in the singles before the young Spaniard takes on Roland Garros legend Rafael Nadal in the men’s doubles.

The opening day will also see gold medals in shooting, diving, road cycling, judo, skateboarding, rugby 7s and swimming. Fiji will be looking for a third consecutive rugby 7s gold when they take on Australia in the semi-finals before the final, which is due to be played this afternoon.
