Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar didn’t seem happy after a fan addressed him as “uncle” during his recent appearance. The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director is currently vacationing in London with his kids, Roohi and Yash. Over the weekend, Karan stepped out for a coffee and was instantly recognized by the locals. Karan agreed to some pictures and selfies with his fans.

An excited fan, who goes by the Instagram handle @zanethad and is said to be a social media influencer, also noticed Karan from afar and decided to make a quick video with him. Once he approached Karan, he asked him for a video. Karan agreed. However, Karan was not prepared for what happened next.

In the video shared on Instagram, the fan said, “Hey uncle,” leaving Karan in shock. “Did you just call me uncle?” Karan said in disbelief before walking away. “Thanks for the collaboration uncle,” the social media user wrote in the caption while sharing the video.

When one social media user pointed out that Zanethad’s behaviour was “rude”, she clarified: “He liked it, he talked to me again afterwards and asked for a selfie.” She added: “I got it, he knows who I am. He reposted the video to his story lol.”

Fans took to the comments section and reacted to Karan’s reaction. “Guts,” one fan commented. One fan also thought that Karan was accompanied by Kareena Kapoor Khan. “Kareena’s laughter in the background,” another added. Some fans also reacted to the video on Reddit.

“Frankly speaking, the one who needs to be judged and criticized here is that influencer, not KJo. He did this on purpose to irritate KJo. And in this day and age, you need to be careful when addressing someone as uncle and aunty. Everyone doesn’t like that,” wrote one fan. “This is just rude because I was planning to irritate him to get a reaction and post it to gain clout. But it’s low key funny,” added another.
