Netflix partners with Raj & DK for fantasy action show ‘Rakt Bramhand’

Netflix India has revealed a new collaboration with creators Raj & DK for their first-ever action-fantasy series, “Rakt Bramhand – The Bloody Kingdom.” This project follows their recent successful collaboration with the series “Guns & Gulaabs.”

The duo will be teaming up with director Rahi Anil Barve and writer Sita R. Menon under their production banner, D2R Films. The series will feature action sequences and visual effects set in a fictional kingdom setting. The shooting will begin soon.

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, known professionally as Raj & DK, have established themselves as innovative filmmakers in the Indian entertainment industry. The duo gained recognition for their work in films such as “99,” “Shor in the City,” and “Go Goa Gone.” They have also found success in the streaming space with Prime Video series such as “The Family Man” and “Farzi.” The duo entered into a multi-year creative partnership with Netflix in 2022.

Barve made his feature film debut with the critically acclaimed film “Tumbbad” in 2018. The period folk horror film received praise for its visual storytelling and unique narrative approach. “Tumbbad” premiered at Venice, opening the Critics’ Week section. It also screened at Fantastic Fest, Busan, and the BFI London Film Festival as part of a stellar global festival run.

Menon, a long-time collaborator of Raj & DK, has worked with the duo on several projects as a writer. Her credits include contributions to the series “The Family Man” and other productions under the D2R Films banner.

Raj and DK said, “This is uncharted territory, which makes it all the more exciting for us. Our aim is to develop a fictional world that is original and reminiscent of the fantastical tales we have heard in our childhood. We are having a blast working with the talented Rahi and our versatile partner Sita to bring this unique vision to life. Working with Netflix has been great and we have their enthusiastic support in backing the unconventional vision of ‘Rakt Bramhand’.”

Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix India, added, “After the massive success of the genre-blending ‘Guns & Gulaabs’, we are thrilled to partner with the masterful duo of Raj and DK for another defining series. ‘Rakt Bramhand – The Bloody Kingdom’ will be Netflix India’s first-ever mega fantasy action series and is set to redefine the genre by combining large-scale action with a thrilling plot. With creative geniuses like Raj and DK, and the talented Rahi Anil Barve at the helm of the project, we can’t wait to bring this epic adventure to life and entertain audiences across the globe.”
