Life coach says she doesn’t date Indian men for three reasons, sparking debate

Her video has racked up 12,000 likes and 79,000 views on Instagram.

Everyone has certain likes, dislikes and preferences when it comes to dating. A relationship and life coach recently said that she avoids dating Indian men. She posted a video in which she gave three justifications for her choice. Social media users have posted a variety of comments in response to the viral video. Some agreed with her, while others called her statements “ridiculous.”

Chetna Chakravarthy wrote on Instagram: “It’s time to come clean. The reason my single clients find love and can navigate the crazy world of dating is because I’ve been there, done that, and my tools are tried and tested.”

She said, “I don’t date Indian men anymore, and these are my top reasons for not doing so.” Chakravarthy said that Indian men have not been taught “how to have difficult conversations.” “When they can’t argue a point, they stay quiet and label the woman as stubborn, argumentative and aggressive.” Explaining the second reason, she said, “They don’t understand romance,” adding that romance is about “small gestures every day” and not just big gifts or grand gestures. Lastly, Chakravarthy pointed out that men don’t know how to take care of a house. “It’s about stepping up to take care of the house because you live in it too and not because you are doing your partner a favor,” she commented in the video.

The relationship coach said the “opinions expressed on my account are solely my own” and do not reflect the opinions of anyone else.

Since being shared, her video has racked up 12,000 likes and 79,000 views on the social media platform.

“I don’t agree… I’m married to an amazing Indian man! Ummm, there might be a gender difference at some points… maybe you’re just talking about your bad experiences, but you shouldn’t label it as a country!” said one user.

Another added: “This is not an Indian men’s issue. It’s a gender issue.”

A third said: “I want to share my perspective on this and I hope you can give your opinion too. Here in India, neither parents nor schools teach young children all the things you mentioned in the video. Most of the behavioural traits they learn come from spending time with immature friends and watching Bollywood movies! The reason I am very aware of the importance of these things is because I was taught at the right age by my mother and I read books on emotional intelligence, relationships, mindset, leadership, manners and etiquette. All these things play a huge role in a happy and long-lasting relationship!”

“You hit the nail on the head, babe… And yet we find some men who are well educated… or who educated themselves to have this awareness that is mutually beneficial,” one person said.

Another wrote: “They haven’t realized that times have changed and women have too.”

“I totally agree with reason 3,” one user commented.
