I Made it to YEMEN (Crazy First Impressions)

what’s up guys right now I’m in the Istanbul airport on my way to Yemen I’m extremely nervous I realize the risks of going there but that’s going to be one for the books so as of now I’ve been to 170 countries and if there’s ever a real travel experience that I’m about to have it’s going to be the next week in Yemen [Music] we’re just about to cross the border right now passport stamped I have officially made it to Yemen country number 171. Yemen is not a normal place to visit as a tourist in fact it’s not really allowed to visit I had to pull some serious strings to get the visa but here I am on my craziest Adventure yet after seven and a half years of non-stop travel ever since the Arab Spring happened in 2011 Yemen has been in a constant state of chaos and nobody has been left in charge terrorist groups are currently controlling large parts of the country it’s essentially Lawless and there’s no safety net should something bad happen to me after all Yemen is undergoing the world’s largest humanitarian crisis with three quarters of the population needing urgent aid and protection that’s 22 million people as far as I know I’m one of the very few Outsiders to get access to explore Mainland Yemen I’m not going to sakota island or just stepping over the border from Oman this is the real deal I will be road tripping for six days into the heart of Yemen with a local fixer who picked me up from the Omani border my first 24 hours consisted of driving westbound across the surprise surprisingly beautiful Coast to a town called Al-Qaeda last night I heard some gunshots and I think it was because of a celebration but I’m not sure the drive was more Greenery and mountains than desert but we did see our fair share of camels we stopped several times along the way first to eat we just got invited for a home-cooked meal gonna get some yemeni food no problem you’re very nice thank you [Music] what’s the name in Arabic wow a piece and this is [Music] very good then we stopped again at a local cut Market remember that video I made in Somaliland it’s like smoking cigarettes it’s just like Smoked Cigarettes with your intelligence it’s that same addictive plant that you chew on to get high and it’s a huge epidemic here in Yemen as I gazed out the window I saw lots of poverty kids tapping on my arm to get some coins lots and lots of garbage everywhere is covered in trash and also there’s a lot of military presence and checkpoints bringing me back to my time in Afghanistan yeah baby my plan in Yemen is basically no plan at all I just want to bring some light to the local culture and tell you stories from my experiences traveling in this war-torn country and so far it’s been raw and fantastic I am now safe at my hotel in a city called Al-Qaeda it was a wild experience today very eye-opening yeah just trying to take it all in and mixed with the fact that I haven’t slept in about 48 hours I need to get a good head rest be reporting back to you guys tomorrow I’m safe I’m good I’m in Yemen I’m gonna so my shower doesn’t really work check this out turn it on okay and then we pull this up and when you pull it up it comes out but then when you let go if it goes off looks like that looking in the shower tonight [Music] and if you like my travel videos please click subscribe and join me as I plan to visit every country in the world
