After an excellent start, Dhanush’s Raayan was expected to show a good jump on the second day, but that didn’t happen. Read on!
Raayan had a spectacular start on Friday and registered the second-highest opening for a Tamil film in 2024. For Dhanush, the film registered the best opening of his career. After such a performance and favourable word of mouth, a good bounce was expected yesterday but it didn’t happen as the film saw minimal growth. Let’s find out how it fared at the Indian box office on the second day!
The revenge drama opened to mostly decent reviews from critics. Yes, many point out the inconsistency in the script and content, but overall, it is considered to be Dhanush’s all-round show. Even SJ Suryah is being praised for his performance. These positives were expected to help the film show good growth yesterday after a solid start of Rs 13.70 crore.
According to the estimates coming in, Raayan won 13.80 crore rupees on Day 2. While the figure is good, compared to Friday’s Rs 13.70 crore, it is a jump of less than 1%. Adding up the estimated figure, the total at the Indian box office stands at 27.50 croresIdeally, the film would have hit the Rs 15 crore mark yesterday, but let’s hope that happens today.
Even with minimal growth, Raayan will rake in over Rs 40 crore during the opening weekend, which is a solid sum. After the weekend, the only thing the film will have to do is maintain a steady trend during the weekdays before entering the second weekend.
For those who don’t know, Raayan is reported to have a budget of 90 croresIf we compare this cost with the domestic collection of Rs 27.50 crore, we can see that 30.55% of the budget has already been recovered. Let us see if the film continues its winning momentum and enters the safe zone by recovering the budget.
